What is Qigong?

Qi ("chee") means air, breath of life, or vital energy that flows through all things in the universe

Gong ("gung") means skill of working with, or cultivation, self-discipline and achievement.

Qigong is a mind-body practice that improves one's mental and physical health by integrating postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention.

There are three major distinctions in Qigong practice: Martial (like Kung Fu or Tai Chi), Medical, and Spiritual.

What is Medical Qigong?

Medical Qigong is the foundation of all Chinese Medicine and is thousands of years old.  It is the foundation for Acupressure/Acupuncture and what is now called "Traditional Chinese Medicine" or TCM.

What is now labeled as "Traditional Chinese Medicine" is really a product of communist China, not ancient China.  The communist government took the millennia old, highly studied and detailed Chinese medical theories and practices and stripped out what they didn't like, made it fit the western medical model better, and presented it to the world.  And while TCM is still effective, it has lost much of its power.

Medical Qigong relies heavily on Chinese 5 Element Theory, meridians and acupressure, the important balance of the yin and yang, as well as other ancient Chinese medical knowledge about the body's energy systems.

Medical Qigong is still practiced in isolated pockets of China, secretive for fear of the government, and some of its practitioners have helped this information make it safely to the western world.

A Medical Qigong Practitioner is dedicated to their own development through constant self-study, meditations, and the dedicated practice of specific postures and movements meant to cleans, tonify and regulate their own energy systems and body, and continually improve their ability to sense and move energy.

A Medical Qigong Practitioner is required to bring themselves into balance first and build up their own energy reserves before working on a client so they can be the best conduit of healing energy possible.

The practitioner then works on the client to cleans, tonify and regulate the client's body's energy in order to bring balance.  Balanced energy can then bring a client's body into a greater state of health.

What is a Session like?

A Medical Qigong session involves intake forms and a brief discussion with the practitioner, then the client lays on a massage table, fully clothed, while the practitioner cleanses, tonifies, and regulates the energies of the body, occasionally touching the body.

Distance sessions are preformed as the client lays down in a quite area of their choosing while phones are set to speakerphone so client and practitioner can interact.  The practitioner then interacts with the client's energy as if they were in the same room.  Distance is no barrier to energy and distance sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions.

*Contraindicated for Pregnant Women

Medial Qigong can be done as part of an Energy Medicine Session, or if you prefer a full Medical Qigong session simply indicate this in the notes section at time of booking.

*This session can be done remotely over the phone
