What are Tibetan Singing Bowls?

Tibetan singing bowls are an ancient tool used to bring what is in disharmony back into harmony.  A singing bowl session will help to:

  • reset and organize your energy systems

  • remove energy and physical blockages

  • assist with detox

  • relax and reset the brain and nervous systems with the meditative state inducing frequencies

More accurately called Himalayan singing bowls, this healing tradition goes back 2,400 years and was handed down generation to generation in Nepal, Tibet, and India.  It was introduced to the west when Tibetan monks fled Tibet.

Traditional handmade bowls are made from 7 metals, each metal vibrates a little differently giving the bowls rich harmonic sound.  Machine made bowls also exist now and are good for certain uses, like meditation, but are typically not used in sound healing sessions.

We are only beginning to understand the healing power of sound.  And what the ancients knew from experience, science is now beginning to prove.

Sound is an energy, it vibrates at a specific frequency, and it can effect other energies around it.  The pure harmonic tones of a singing bowl bring into order that which is in disorder.  Their clear sound clears disruptive energies from the body or the environment and brings a feeling of peace.

Signing bowls tune the body to its natural frequency.
What is a Session like?

For a singing bowl session the client typically lays down comfortably on a pad or massage table, fully clothed, and singing bowls are placed around and sometimes on their body.  Some techniques use warm water in the bowls which has a warming effect and allows the vibration to penetrate deeper into the body.

Singing bowls induce a theta wave state in the brain and are so relaxing and that it is very difficult to stay awake during a session!

Tibetan Singing Bowls can be done as part of an Energy Medicine Session, or if you prefer a full Tibetan Singing Bowl session simply indicate this in the notes section at time of booking.

*This session can be done remotely over the phone

Who is Suren Shrestha?

Suren was born in Nepal, about 45 minutes south of Mt. Everest. He now lives in Boulder, CO and runs the Atma Buti Sound and Vibrational School there.  Atma Buti translates to "Soul Medicine" and anyone who experiences singing bowls knows that they truly are medicine for the soul.

Suren learned this healing art from many teachers in Nepal and Asia.  And after seeing so many people suffering from ill health here in the U.S. he decided to open his school and write a book to teach people how to use this ancient and powerful healing art.

Suren is a gentle soul with a true heart.  He supports the local artisans in Nepal and brings their bowls to the US to sell.  He also supports the Aama Orphanage School in his village with the funds he raises from his book and from teaching.
